“We got references that told us the Insta-Pro extruders were very good, very robust,” he says. That led the company to invest in Model 2000 Extruders which it installed in 2011 to process soybeans into meal for its livestock feed manufacturing operations.
“When it comes to CSB/soya oil and partially defatted soya, we have been using primarily the Insta-Pro extruders almost 22 years now,”
Biyinzika now has 20 branch outlets across Uganda and processes 150 metric tons of CSB per day to support WFP feeding efforts in Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and Kenya – “anywhere there’s a need for food,” according to Mukasa.
AgCom now processes 40,000 bushels of soybeans per week, putting out oil, extruded meal, and express meal. Sharrer expects the operation to grow further, depending on its customers’ needs.
“In working with Insta-Pro, we’ve been able to exceed our expectations for oil extraction. Our processing involves pressing, extruding, then pressing two more times, and the Insta-Pro equipment has allowed us to run a variety of commodities.”
“Having our own extrusion processing has allowed us to put quality control at our own facility."
