Purchasing Specialist

The Purchasing Specialist position will be located at our Grimes, Iowa Headquarters and will report to the Controller. The right candidate should be able to effectively work in a team and have strong negotiation, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Issues purchase orders, audits incoming invoices and approves invoices for payment
· Manage inventory cycle counting
· Provide lead times to staff as necessary
· Create part numbers in FishBowl for items as necessary
· Maintain vendor export information such as origin, manufacturer/ISO info, HS codes, etc. and provide as needed
· Work with Inventory Management team to develop and maintain inventory targets, procedures, and analytics
· Negotiates with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, payment terms, freight rates and delivery terms
· Evaluate quality of vendor performance and select alternate vendors as needed
· Coordinates import shipments with freight forwarders and US Customs
· Establish and implement return goods procedures
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a 4-year college or university; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Manufacturing experience a plus
· Basic accounting knowledge preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
· Experience in QuickBooks preferred
· English language is a must; Speaking a second language is a plus
· Must be eligible to work in the USA
