The setting for Insta-Pro’s rise to international acclaim began in Iowa — a perennial leader in the production of soybeans and livestock. The need was simple: find a way for local farmers and co-ops to process their own home-grown resources, rather than sell their crops to third-party processors and then buy back the processed ingredients.
Insta-Pro met the challenge and their invention became the industry’s first high shear extruder for processing feed and food. The new technology was patented and the Insta-Pro (short for “instant processing”) manufacturing company was born. Additional products to enhance the extrusion process were also soon developed. Preconditioners were created using steam to pre-heat and condition products before entering the extruder.
Oil press extraction also became a key component in the Insta-Pro product family. Pressing extruded soybeans, cottonseed, flax, sunflower seed and other oilseeds releases high quality, oil output used in many food and manufacturing industries.
Now, more than forty years later, Insta-Pro’s high shear dry extrusion technologies and oil press systems are at work on six continents — North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. Research relationships with international scientific institutes and leading universities help provide versatile processing solutions based on the local crop resources of every Insta-Pro client.
Note: Universities also perform function to test, verify and document efficacy results of products processed using Insta-Pro extruders, oil presses and preconditioners.
