Utilizing commodities and byproducts to their fullest extent is a successful strategy to increase overall food production in all parts the world. One such example is the recovery of edible oil from rice bran, a by-product gained in the milling of white rice. Rice bran contains significant oil content that can be recovered using Insta-Pro high-shear extrusion stabilizers. The rice bran oil is human grade, light-colored, stable and is high oleic and high linoleic.
If oil is not being extracted from rice bran, it is commonly used as an animal feed. In order for the bran to maintain rich levels of protein, food energy and natural vitamins and minerals, the Insta-Pro extrusion process immediately deactivates or stabilizes the enzyme activity to prevent degradation of the food value. Without this stabilizing process, the food value will continue to degrade.
Rice bran extrusion enterprises which integrate Insta-Pro stabilizer technologies are in operation around the world.
