Engineering experts at Iowa State University have compared Insta-Pro screws against competitors from Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America.
The study analyzed screw flights for microstructural qualities, hardness and chemical composition which are the key factors to determine the durability of the parts. The experiments used standardized abrasion testing performed by ASTM-G 6591 Procedure A. The abrasion tests are important in that they rank materials in their resistance to scratching under certain conditions. Insta-Pro screws held up the best, and showed longevity compared to competitors.
I shared the results of the research to the customer that the Asian competitor’s screws wore 633% faster than Insta-Pro screws. The customer understood that he can save significant money by buying higher quality parts in lesser quantities because there will be a reduction in downtime and the operators will not have to perform maintenance as often.
